A rural scene around Mt. Asama. At 8,425 ft (2,568 m) in height, Asama is one of Japan’s largest and most active volcanoes. It is on the island of Honshu and is 140 km north of Tokyo. the mountain overlooks the town of Karuizawa. Shinsui shows the volcano with steam venting from the upper crater. A worker tilling the field at center right is dwarfed by the mass of the mountain. The mountain is in the area of the town of Shinano and the Shinano River. | ||||

Very good condition. Soft warm paper tone. Slightly wavy margin edges. Pencil notation on the reverse bottom margin. Deckle edge right. Embossing in the cloud area. Pencil notation on the back side at the bottom edge. Not matted or mounted. | ||||
