Ref. Blair Catalogue #172 (Toledo 1936). The image shows part of a festival procession to the temple Hommonji at Omori, Tokyo. An annual event on October 12th, the Oeshiki Festival is celebrated in commemoration of the Buddhist leader, Nichiren (1222-1282), by devotees who march toward the temple carrying large lanterns decorated with paper flowers. | ||||
