From the “Second Series of Modern Beauties” (Gendai bijinshu dai-nishu - Hanabi) published by Watanabe Shozaburo. Number 243 of an edition of 250. The Blair Catalogue states that there were about 10 blocks with 25 to 30 superimposed printings. Brush signature “Shinsui” and red seal “Shinsui” in lower left. Also in the lower left is the date of Showa 7 years. The early Watanabe publisher’s 6mm round seal in the lower right of the image and the copyright seal “C”, used 1929-42, in the lower left margin. (Both seals are commonly found on this image.). On the reverse the red limitation seal with the number 243 of 250, with a small publisher’s seal below. | (click on image for photos) |

Very good condition. A little soil on the deckle edge at the top. Pencil point size color void at the right center edge. Faint blush around the eye and the fingers still showing. Not matted or mounted. | ||||
