Here is one of Hart's great Mexican scenes - the common people engaged in everyday activity. This work is from his last known trip to Mexico. Gregory Gilbert in his book on Hart illustrates another drawing done in charcoal of a similar roadside restaurant scene completed during one of Hart's earlier frequent trips to Mexico. (Ref.: Fig. 61, George Overbury "pop" Hart - His Life and Art".) | ||||

Very good condition. Pinholes at the sheet corners behind the mat window, on the rear some old brown paper tape at the four sheet edges, scattered handling creasing, and a 3 1/4” diagonal hard crease bottom right across the figure of the seated person - the paper fibers partially broken- , a 1/4” tear at bottom left sheet corner. Matted in new 100% rag mats, corner mounts. | ||||
