Zúñiga Catalogue #273. State II, 8 prints only, this print #1 of 8. Printed in one black on Copperplate deluxe white paper from just the drawing stone. Printed by Kyron Press, Mexico City, and published by Brewster Editions, New York. (Brewster #41). The regular edition of State I was 100 plus 38 various proofs printed in 3 blacks. State III was 8 proofs in two blacks on white paper. Signed, dated and inscribed “P.E. II I/VIII’, all in pencil lower left, Kyron Press Blindstamp at lower right. |

This work demonstrates the tonal effect he was able to obtain from just one ink on one stone. Zúñiga called this a “mid-tone veil” and was achieved by the use of a large roller to first ink the stone and then etch it prior to doing the drawing. | ||||
Condition: |
Very good condition. Printed to the edges of the sheet, minor handling creases, unobtrusive printer’s crease center right in the gray shoulder area of the woman's wrap, two pinholes at left and right sheet edges. Not matted. Shipped flat in protective folio. | ||||
