A portfolio. Edition of 150, this being set #61, published by Delphic Arts of NY, text printed at the Gehenna Press, offsets printed at Meriden Gravure Co., all on laid finish white watermarked “Fabriano" (Italy) deckle all edges. 3 original etchings and 60 offset lithographs (signed on plate), with cover page, 3 pages of sheet titles, and folio limitation sheet signed and numbered in pen by Baskin. Folio in cloth with red morocco labels, gilt letters. Two of the three original etchings are signed on plate only (#s 1 and 3) and not otherwise titled but are identified in the F & O Catalogue. They are - #1 (at right) is Homer (Fern & O'Sullivan Catalogue #448); #2 is a version of #38 - Hephaistos the Artificer, (F & O Catalogue #449) and #3 is ”Blind Homer” (F & O Catalogue #450). All sheets are 26” x 20”, the drawings usually covering a substantial part of the sheet and are all figure drawings. Text for the titles given on the three title pages is from the translation of Richmond Lattimore. | (click on image for photos) |

The drawings were commissioned by the U. of Chicago Press and 49 were used in an edition of Lattimore’s translation, for which the University Press holds the copyright. Some images are just figure outlines and have been underexposed in the photos in our pdf file to show the detail. Typical of Baskin’s suites, all figures are drawn unclothed.
