B. 1953, Kanagawa (also current residence) Kuroda received his art education at Tama Art University, Tokyo. His work has been selected for the prestigious CWAJ (College Woman's Association of Japan) juried show of contemporary prints held in Tokyo each October. His appearance in the 2009 show was the 26th time his work has been selected. Recent solo exhibitions have been at Galeria Certe, Yokohama in 2005 and at Tolman Collection, Tokyo in 2006. His method is to combine drypoint and aquatint with color, thus requiring several plates for each work. He is best known for a continuing series of bicycle riders and umbrellas. The multiple riders are shown blurred giving the implication of a pack of riders zooming by at speed - kind of a "Tour de Japan" in the rain. Recent works has incorporated more color. His work is in museum collections, including Cleveland, The British Museum, Honolulu and Yokohama. |
