OGATA, Gekko 1859 - 1920  

 
Born in Edo. He was a self taught painter and printmaker. A member of the Meiji Fine Art Society. Two important print series are Beauties at Famous Places and One Hundred Views of Mount Fuji. His print sytle resembles painting and required great skill on the part of the block carver.
