| Born in Hibbing, Minnesota in 1938, his art education included studies at the Minneapolis College of ARt, at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, and with Artist Birney Quick at the Grand Marais Art Colony in Minnesota. He has had extensive exhibitions throughout Minnesota including solo shows at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. His subjects are usually urban landscapes and small town streets. He frequently prefers nighttime, dusk or dawn light. While painting is his main medium he occasionally explores the same subjects in print form. He was chosen as a Distinguished Artist in 2003 by the McKnight Foundation. This foundation provides a sizable stipend for a single artist chosen each year. |
